ABOUT US

About Us

J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel was established in 1923 by J. Allen and Rita Hooper. J. Allen and Rita were the owners and operators of the funeral home until Mr. Hooper's death. Rita sold the funeral home to Peter J. "Jack" Soltis, Jr. in 1978.

Jack had worked for Mr. Hooper as an intern and was very familiar with the town and the philosophy that the funeral home was built on. Originally located on Pennsylvania Avenue, we moved locations in 1983 to a facility that could better accommodate business needs. We are still located here today.

Our entire staff is dedicated to the families we work with and we've consistently committed ourselves to ensuring that we make this time as stress free as possible. Many of our staff members have been with us for years. Ken Van Aken worked at the funeral home for over 60 years before  his passing several years ago. Ken’s wife, Helen, has been working as our dedicated hairstylist for many years.

Steve Ullrich started with the funeral home in 1988, became a partner in 2015, and became the sole owner in May of 2019, following the death of Mr. Soltis. Steve is also the President and Supervisor of the funeral home, and is adamant about quality service and maintaining high values. In 2023,  Christina " Christie" Iannucci joined our team as a funeral director. Christie is a licensed funeral director in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and has been working  in the funeral service industry since 2016.

Our directors and our support staff look forward to providing families with care, comfort, and quality service throughout time.
