William Charles Grosz

July 27, 1946 — January 30, 2021

Yardley, PA

William Charles Grosz, age 74 of Yardley, PA passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021.  Born in Hershey, PA, Mr. Grosz lived in Sicklerville, NJ prior to moving to Yardley over 40 years ago.

An honors graduate of Penn State University with A B.S. in structural engineering, William earned his MA in accounting and computer science from Temple University. He worked for several engineering consulting firms in the Philadelphia area including CUH2A, Jacobs, D&Z and Sverdrop.  Always a fan of problem solving, as a hobby he worked for H&R Block during tax seasons as a professional preparer

He was very actively involved in the local chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association, serving for years as its treasurer. Although he enjoyed walking, bicycling and the occasional round of golf, his favorite sporting activity, by far, was skiing, both downhill and cross country.  Mr. Grosz was an avid fan of Penn State Football and Wrestling and rarely missed a home game or match. In his final decade he attended St Andrew’s Episcopal Church of Yardley where he was welcomed and supported during his long struggle with dementia.

Son of the late Reverend William George and Margaret Sue (Clark) Grosz, he is survived by his loving wife of 51 years,  Henrietta (Chesworth) Grosz, two daughters and a son-in-law Elizabeth and Dante DeSole of Brooklyn, NY and Alice Brawley-Chesworth of Portland, OR, a brother and sister-in-law Philip and Priscilla Grosz of State College, PA, and 3 grandchildren Adelaide and Calvin DeSole and Campbell Brawley.

Services for Mr. Grosz will be held at a later date once Covid restrictions are lifted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Grosz' name may be made to the Nittany Lion Club, 147 Bryce Jordan Center, University Park, PA  16802 (www.nittanylionclub.com).

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
