Robert Clark Brewer

December 25, 1937 — April 27, 2021

Yardley, PA

Robert Clark Brewer, age 83 of Yardley, PA, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA.

Born in Trenton, NJ, Mr. Brewer was a lifelong Morrisville/Yardley resident. He graduated from Drexel with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He was briefly employed with U.S. Steel. A professional electrical engineer, he designed and managed manufacturing plants including bottled water facilities in Washington Crossing and Yardley.

Mr. Brewer was a member of the Morrisville United Methodist Church. Son of the late William A. and Grace (Mattern) Brewer, brother of the late William Aaron Brewer, Jr., and brother-in-law of the late Helen Brewer, he is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Florence (Goldy-Toth) Brewer, stepson Robert Michael Toth, Jr., daughter Robyn Elizabeth Smith, brother and sister-in-law David and Linda Brewer, grandchildren John N.H. Toth, Maxwell J.H. Toth, Melissa C. Rineer, Eric R. Smith, and Jared M. Smith, great grandchildren Elijah and Eleanor Rineer, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

At Morrisville High, he had first-team honors in football and baseball. He held 100-yd and 220-yd dash freshman records that stood for 15 years.

Bob and Florence vacationed for many years on Martha’s Vineyard, inviting anyone who could make the journey. They were lucky to have each other and both wanted what was best for the other.

Opening-day trout fishing in the Poconos at Ressica Falls or his home stream the Little Bushkill or in later years in a chair at the Delaware Canal were an essential part of his fishing year. There were stories of Bob’s grand-pop in a Model A on Island Beach. Bob was an’‘old school’ fisherman. There would be a pole in the sand with bait and another to cast. His grandchildren continue the tradition of  fishing.

Bob’s generosity was hard to match.  If you admired something of his, it was often yours. If you needed something built, it was done. If you had a math problem, it was solved. At Easter, his grandchildren found colorful plastic eggs filled with coins hidden in the grass.

Bob was generous, kind, patient--an accomplished athlete, a skilled fisherman, fly tier, builder, teacher, mentor. A gentle man.

His services and interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Trenton, NJ, will be held privately, at the convenience of the family, entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA (www.hooperfuneralchapel.com).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Mr. Brewer’s name, may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105, or www.stjude.org.
