Richard Chester Rybczynski

September 24, 1928 ~ May 12, 2020 (age 91)

Richard C Rybczynski of Morrisville, PA passed away peacefully at his home on May 12, 2020. He was 91. Born in Buffalo New York, he left home at 17 to enlist in the Navy and travel the world. His travels led him to Morrisville PA where he married his wife of 67 years, Lorraine Gould Rybczynski. In addition to being survived by his wife, Richard is survived by his children, Richard S Rybczynski, Morrisville, PA, Michael Rybczynski, Yardley, PA, Jeffrey Rybczynski (Shirley), Hopewell, VA and Kathleen Pigott (Bill), Waipahu HI. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephanie, Zachary, Emily (Ken) and Anna.

Richard was extremely proud to have served as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy being stationed around the world and serving in the Korean War. The Navy awarded him several medals including the WWII Victory Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, Korea Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.  After his retirement from the Military, he continued his career in the medical field with Valley Forge Medical Center in Norristown, PA as a Laboratory Supervisor, until his retirement at the age of 76.

You never saw him out and about without his “U.S. Navy Retired” ball cap. In his earlier years he loved fishing at the Jersey shore either off the pier or deep sea fishing boats. In retirement he enjoyed dinners and lunches at the local restaurants with his wife and family, collecting his Navy / military memorabilia and telling his stories. He also enjoyed visits from his grandchildren, listening to Andre Rieu and ABBA on his notebook.

Due to the COVID – 19 protocols, his services and interment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery (with military honors) will be held at a date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that those interested perform a private random act of kindness to family, friends or strangers in his memory.
