Marie (Sterling) McGowan

Marie (Sterling) McGowan, age 98 of Yardley, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at her home.  Born in Fallsington, PA, Mrs. McGowan was a lifelong area resident.

Prior to her retirement, Marie was employed as a librarian with the Pennsbury School District.  A parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Morrisville, she was a member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), a member of the Lower Makefield Township Seniors and a volunteer at the Lower Makefield Township Library.

Daughter of the late William and Mary (Moore) Sterling, sister of the late Paul Sterling and wife of the late William McGowan, she is survived by six children, Kathleen, James, Thomas, David, Michael and Dennis McGowan, a brother William Sterling, ten grandchildren and a niece, Laurie Sterling.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 201 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Morrisville, PA  19067.  Her interment in St. Ignatius Cemetery, Yardley, will be private.  There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions, in Mrs. McGowan’s name, be made to the library of Holy Trinity School, 99 Osborn Ave., Morrisville, PA  19067.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
