Dr. Janet M. (Gull) Cegelka

April 29, 1944 ~ January 18, 2023 (age 78) 78 Years Old


Dr. Janet M. Cegelka, born 1944 in Scranton, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA.  Daughter of the late Alex and Marion (Gress) Gull, she was the beloved wife of the late Frank Cegelka and beloved mother of the late Janet M. (Cegelka) Lazzopina.  Janet is survived by her daughter Alexis (Cegelka) Russo and her son-in-law Charles Russo, by her brother Greg Gull and sister-in-law Marta Gull and their children Nicole (Gull) McElroy and Gregory Gull and families.  Janet had 5 grandchildren Jacqueline, Jordan, Jillian, Cameron and Sophia, as well as great grandchild Ava.  Her long-time friend and neighbor Carol Meiners was by her side helping her right till the end.

Janet earned her doctorate in Psychology from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.  She was a lifelong champion of women's causes.  She cared deeply about human rights and dedicated her career to helping individuals with their mental health.  In her free time, Janet was known to indulge in a good Hallmark movie and loved QVC.  She had a sharp sense of humor, was a secret songbird, and loved to read.

An intimate family gathering to celebrate Janet will be set for a later date.  Anyone interested in paying respects or honoring Janet could make a donation, in her name, to A Woman's Place ( or to the Oral Cancer Foundation (
