David Francis Cummings

David Francis Cummings, age 73 of Levittown (Falls Township), PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.

David was born in Abington PA and lived in the Pennypack projects in N E Philadelphia.  When Levittown was built, his family moved to the Magnolia section.  As the family grew, they moved to the Kenwood section.  He went to St. Michael’s school and Bishop Eagan high school.  He graduated in 1965.  His family was active with St. Michael the Archangel Church in Levittown.  He was a Boy Scout,with Troop 120, and achieved The Order of the Arrow.  David worked for Food Fair, Inc. until he was drafted into the army on Aug. 1, 1966.  He trained in Flight Operations as a Flight Coordinator 71 P 20 (Airplane Dispatcher).  He was stationed in Ving Long, Vietnam from March, 1967 – Oct..,1967.  He transferred to Fort Dix, NJ on Compassionate Reassignment in Oct.,1967 – July 31,1968 when his father suffered a heart attack.  He was given an honorable Discharge on July 31, 1968 with the Rank of E-4.  He began working for Food fair Inc. in Nov. of 1967.  He was married to Diane Ciesielski (nee Siegel) in North Wilksboro, NC in 1977.  Mr. Cummings became stepfather of Diane’s two daughters, Lisa and Andrea.  He and his new family moved to the Pinewood section of Levittown.  When Food Fair filed for bankruptcy, he began working for Shop N’ Bag in Medford, NJ where he worked from  March of 1979 – Sept. of 1984.  He worked at Levittown Thriftway Sept. 1984 – May, 2001.  In 1979, his daughter Connie, who has profound disabilities, was born.  Since that time, he participated in activities serving the community which included participation in organizations such as BARC and WORTH.  He was the son of David P. Cummings and Madeline Cummings (nee Snyder), who are deceased.  He is one of 7 children:  Madeline Anderson, Joan Micklo, Philip Cummings, Stephen Cummings, John Cummings, and Linda Taraziewicz.  He is survived by his wife, Diane Cummings, and daughters, Lisa Forko, Andrea Ciesielski, and Connie Cummings.  He is survived by his grandsons, Christopher Kilmer, John Forko, Jake Forko, and Nick Forko and his great grandson, Lucas Kilmer, and many nieces and nephews.

Reltives and friends are invited to attend his graveside service with Military Honors at 9:30 AM on August 6, 2020 at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Rd., Newtown, PA  18940.  The Rev. Gary Taylor, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Morrisville, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Cummings's name to the Wounded Warrior Project (support.woundedwarriorproject.org) or donor's choice.
