Charles F. Hirsch, 72, of Yardley, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown, PA. Born in Erie, PA, he lived in Clinton, NJ and moved to Yardley five years ago.
Dr. Hirsch earned his B.S. from The Pennsylvania State University and his Ph.D. in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin. Prior to his retirement, Charles was employed as a Senior Research Fellow with Merck & Co. in Rahway, then with Sanofi Pasteur in Swiftwater, PA for 10 years as Director of Vaccine Development. He very much enjoyed hiking, landscaping, home improvements and photography. Traveling to Sedona held a special place in his heart. He was, additionally, an avid reader of American History.
Son of the late Charles James and Nancy (Leone) Hirsch, he is survived by his wife Janet Sigmund, a daughter Amanda Hirsch of Charlotte, NC, two stepsons and their spouses Eric and Jennifer Sigmund of Robbinsville, NJ and Kurt Sigmund and Kasey Hopkins of Clark, NJ, a stepdaughter Rachel and her husband Joseph McGinley of Westfield, NJ, a grandson Miles Hirsch, and three step-grandchildren Charles and Emily Sigmund and Cole McGinley.
His services will be held privately at the convenience of the family, entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
