William J. Spedding, affectionately known to many as “Mr. Bill,” passed away peacefully at his home in Yardley, PA, at the age of 92. William was born in Trenton, NJ, but made Yardley his home for over four decades.
William was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol J. Spedding (Frech); his son, Christopher Spedding; his parents William A. Spedding and Susan Beres nee Merriweather; his five sisters, Virginia, Delores, Shirley, Dorothy, and Maryann.
A very proud United States Navy veteran, Bill served during the Korean War and remained active in the veteran community as a member of the Knowles-Doyle American Legion Post #317 and the Yardley VFW.
Bill was a member of the Carpenters Union and mastered his craft with great skill and precision.
Bill was especially proud to have been an integral part in the construction of many well-known structures in New Jersey as a superintendent.
With his great passion for music, Bill was an accomplished guitarist, vocalist and a member of the group “The Nite Caps,” a musical group that brought the love and joy of music and dancing to many.
Bill is survived by his sons, William Joseph Spedding and Kevin Spedding and his wife Aly; his daughters, Mary Lynn Spedding and Sharon Vetter and her husband Scott; step-son, Todd C. DeAngelis and his wife Dawn; sister-in-law, Fritzi Kennedy (Frech) and her husband Kevin; brother-in-law, Carl Frech and his wife Marlene; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Bill also leaves behind his neighbor and devoted friend, Diana Latzko, who shared a special friendship with both Bill and his wife, Carol. As they grew older, Diana was a constant and caring presence, providing friendship, support, and care when they needed it most.
Bill and Carol will be laid to rest together with military honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
Mr. Bill will be remembered for his service to his country, his love for his family, and the friendships he treasured. For those who knew Bill and Carol, their familiar farewell seems especially fitting one last time.
