Susan Louise Finch

December 19, 1952 — June 21, 2025

Rochester, NY

Susan Louise Finch, a cherished mother, wife, and devoted daughter, passed away on June 21, 2025, at Arden Court of Yardley, Pennsylvania. Born on December 19, 1952, in the city of Buffalo, New York, Susan's life was a tapestry woven with devotion to family, a passion for science, and an appreciation for the natural world.

A graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, she embarked upon a fulfilling career as a research scientist at Proctor and Gamble, where she dedicated many years of her life to advancing the field with her diligent efforts and innovative spirit. Her intellect and inquisitive mind made significant contributions, illuminating the path for those who would follow in her footsteps.

Susan was a woman of simple pleasures; she was a true homebody who found comfort and joy in her own space. Her passion for gardening flourished through her membership in the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Mercer County, where she reveled in the beauty of flowers, deftly nurturing life from the earth. Music also enveloped her life; she was a skilled violin and guitar player, and on occasion was heard playing her recorder that she received while in elementary school.

Survived by her beloved children, Joe Sergio and Kristin Stanton, step children, Jason Hughes, Erin Warren, and Sarah Voegeli (husband Charles Voegeli), and grandchildren Braden Standon, Rebecca Stanton, and Caleb Warren. Her warmth and nurturing spirit served as a guiding light to them, and her memory will continue to inspire and comfort them in the years to come.

She reunites in peace with her late parents, Charles Finch and Geraldine Nelson Finch, and her late husband, David E. Hughes, whose love shaped her being, and whose memories will remain alive in the stories shared by those who knew her.

The family has decided not to hold services. With Susan’s love for animals, donations may be made to Tabby’s Place in Ringoes, New Jersey in her honor.

As we reflect upon Susan's journey, we remember not only her accomplishments in science but also the love she infused into her relationships and the joy she found in life’s simple pleasures. She will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will forever linger in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.

Her arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
