Stephen A. Coia

November 22, 1957 — December 26, 2020

Feasterville, PA

Steve was born and grew up in Philadelphia’s Hunting Park section (6th & Pike). He attended Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Northeast Catholic High School.

Steve was a proud SEPTA bus operator for 27 years. Prior to SEPTA, he worked for Whitman’s Chocolates for 17 years and part-time at Pearle Vision Center for seven years.

Steve was a selfless, loving and admirable man who devoted his life to his family and friends. He was a doting dog dad to his buddy, Bruno. Other interests included Philadelphia sports teams, the Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree Knight), dining out, family outings, the shore, making the occasional Santa cameo and being the Mayor of SEPTA’s Comly Depot.

Everyone knew of Steve’s Italian heritage. Whenever you were around him, you felt his natural warmth. His contagious smile would always be around when he was slyly playing pranks on his family and friends; even in those final moments.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Son of the late Vincenzo and Ida (Tedeschi) Coia, and father of the late Kathleen Marie Coia, he is survived by his loving wife Christine M. (Cook) Coia, his beloved sons and a daughter-in-law Thomas A. and Kate Coia of Media, PA and Michael V. Coia of Feasterville, PA, a sister Lisa Moffa of Philadelphia, one grandson Michael Stephen Coia, his toy poodle Bruno, and many nieces and nephews.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions services will be held privately.  The family will hold a celebration of Stephen’s live at a later date, when it is safe to do so.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions, in Stephen’s name, be made to the Bridge Clinic, 2600 S. Eagle Road, Newtown, PA  18940  ( www.thebridgeclinic.org ).
