Ronald Elwood McCreary

Ronald Elwood “Tex” McCreary, age 89, of Morrisville, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2019 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA.  Born in Allenport, PA, Mr. McCreary had lived in Morrisville since 1953.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. McCreary was employed as a steel worker with U.S. Steel, Fairless Works, for over 30 years. He later worked at both Burger King and Giant in Morrisville.  A proud Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the Thornridge Community Church in Levittown, the American Legion in Kistler, PA, and the VFW in Mt. Union, PA.  He volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader of Troop # 85 in Morrisville, PA.  An avid sports fan, Mr. McCreary enjoyed collecting baseball cards, hunting and fishing.

Son of the late Clarence and Huldah (Hicks) McCreary and brother of the late Naomi Gibbons, Leora Mills, and Harvey and Dennis McCreary, he is survived by his loving wife Sylvia Irene (Stains) McCreary, whom he married on June 28, 1954 in Mt. Union, PA, two sons and daughters-in-law John L and Jean McCreary of Levittown and Kevin and Debra McCreary of Morrisville, a daughter, Crystal Buck of Levittown, three sisters Sharon Taylor and Fae Steel of Mt. Union, PA and Linda Sullivan of Hamburg, NY, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019 at 11:30 AM at the Thornridge Community Church, 7 Thornridge Place, Levittown, PA  19054.  The Rev Andrea Arrington, Pastor, will officiate. His interment, with military honors, will follow at 1 PM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.

Friends may call from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions, in Mr. McCreary's name, be made to the above named church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
