Robert Charlton Wintersteen

Robert Charlton Wintersteen, age 86 of Morrisville Boro, PA passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA.

Born in Bristol, PA, he lived in Levittown, PA for many years, then moved to Morrisville Boro with his wife Eileen where they resided the remaining years of his life.

Prior to retirement he was employed at U.S. Steel, Fairless Works, Fairless Hills, PA, on the docks, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and other workers.  After retiring he was employed by Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ, driving for the transportation department and enjoying every minute.  He also enjoyed his employment at the Lower Makefield Township Police Department, where he was a crossing guard for the Quarry Hill School.  He loved the teachers, friends, and especially the children, who referred to him as “Uncle Bob”.

Another very important part of his life was being a “Veteran” of the United States Navy, “Seabees Division”.  He was in the Korean War.  After being discharged from active duty he was transferred to the reserves until the 1970’s. Bob was active in many hobbies, sports and memberships.  He was a lifetime member of the Fairless Hills Elks Lodge # 2023 in Morrisville, PA, where he served as a trustee, headed the Hoop Shoot Contests for children of the area and organized many golf tournaments.  Bob also was an active organizer of the Sunday Breakfast, where all proceeds were donated to Cerebral Palsy.  He enjoyed the activities of the Knowles-Doyle American Legion Post # 317 in Yardley, PA, where he was a member for many years.

Bob was a baseball coach for the Morrisville Pee Wee League and a coach for the Morrisville Bulldogs Youth Football Program.  Many of his hobbies included shooting pool, golfing, bowling, Quizzo, and the cabin in the Endless Mountains, where he would go hunting for deer and fly fishing with many of the members and his dear friends.  Bob was an avid fan of the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, and enjoyed car racing.

Son of the late John and Delihaia (Smith) Wintersteen and father of the late Kimberly Crookham, Robert is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Eileen (Smith) Wintersteen, his pride and joy, grand daughters Amber and Autumn Rainier, his son Robert Wintersteen of Levittown, PA, and his step-son G.D. Rainier.  He is also survived by his cousin Patti and her husband Jack Settelen and their family of Wake Forest, NC, a newphew, Samuel Powell and his family of Paulsboro, NJ.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 6:30 PM on June 22, 2023 at the Knowles-Doyle American Legion Post # 317, 215 South Main Street, Yardley, PA  19067.
