Norma Mae Welker

Norma Mae Welker, née Swift, passed away peacefully, on August 29, 2026. She was born on April 9, 1926, in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, and spent her childhood enjoying the countryside in rural Pennsylvania, instilling in her a passion for nature that would last a lifetime.

A graduate of Shamokin High School, Norma went on to attend beauty school and opened her own beauty shop out of her family home in Shamokin, PA at 19 years old.

In 1948, Norma married the love of her life, Clifford H. Welker, and together they had two children, Glenn and Lynn. They resided in Lavelle, PA for a short time but soon relocated to Morrisville, PA. Norma worked for Educational Testing Services in Princeton for many years before retiring in 1977. Norma lived in Morrisville for 30 years before moving to Levittown 40 years ago, where she resided with her loving and caring daughter.

In 1976, Norma and Clifford took a 13-week road trip from Morrisville, PA across the United States including the Alcan Highway to Alaska, hundreds of miles down the west coast and return across country; this trip was one of the highlights of her life. She was an avid and voracious reader and found pleasure in knitting and had a love of singing and music.

Above all, Norma will be remembered for the love she gave to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Ann Vuono; her daughter-in-law, Ginny Welker; her granddaughters, Bryn Hartley and Brook Schatz; her great grandchildren, Tucker, Callista, and Piper; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell L. Swift; her mother, Helen M. Staub Swift; her husband, Clifford H. Welker; her brother, Robert Swift; her son-in-law Anthony Vuono and her son, Glenn Welker.

Norma’s presence will be missed by her friends and family and those that knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please consider making a memorial donation, in Norma's memory, to the charity of your choice.
