Merrill M. Smith, 88, passed away on February 1, 2014 at Ann's Choice in Warminster, PA, where he had resided for three years. Born in Northampton, PA, he moved to Yardley, PA in 1952. Services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Hutchinson Memorial Chapel of the Morrisville Presbyterian Church, 771 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067. The Rev. Deborah Heffernan, Associate Pastor, will officiate. His interment will be held privately in Northampton, PA.Merrill was a graduate of Northampton High School and Lehigh University, where he majored in Chemical Engineering. He was a senior Vice President of Technology for Congoleum Corporation in Trenton, NJ, where he worked for 54 years. He retired in 2006.He was an Army Air Force Veteran serving in WWII. Merrill was a member of Delta Lodge A.F. and A.M. - Braintree, Mass., St. Alban Lodge #529 - Philadelphia, PA, LuLu Shrine Temple - Plymouth Meeting, PA, Bucks County Shrine Club and Southampton Square Club. He was also a member of the George Washington Council of the Boy Scouts of American where he received the Silver Beaver Award. Additionally, he was a member of the New York Rubber Group, the Philadelphia Rubber Group, the American Chemical Society and the Society of Plastic Engineers.Merrill is survived by sons David R. Smith of Landisville, PA, Thomas M. Smith of Washington Crossing, PA, and granddaughter Laura A. Smith of Landisville, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Morrisville Presbyterian Church at the address above.Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J.
