Marilyn Morgan Jorgensen, age 81, of Yardley, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. Born in Hartford, CT, she grew up in Newington, CT and graduated from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA with a B.A. in music and music education, before moving to Yardley 52 years ago.

Mrs. Jorgensen was a musician, who enjoyed playing music with her students, family, and friends. She began her career as a music educator by teaching music in several elementary schools soon after graduating college. She was devoted to her family, and was a friend to all those who surrounded her. As her children grew older, she opened a private piano practice in her home and became a longtime member of the Bucks County Association of Piano Teachers. She was a member of the Morrisville Presbyterian Church for over fifty years, where she served as a choir member and on the prayer chain. She enjoyed nature, planting in her gardens, sewing, and painting with oil paints and watercolors. She served as a leader in Girl Scouts, made holidays special, and loved camping with her family on Cape Cod. 

Daughter of the late Mary Woolley Morgan and the late Edward Hunter Morgan, stepdaughter of the late Shirley Marsh Morgan, and wife of forty-seven years to the late William Roy Jorgensen, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David William Jorgensen and Marta Ameri, of Portland, ME; her daughter and son-in-law, Karin Lynn J. Stoermer and Scott A. Stoermer, Ret. Capt. USCG, of St. Louis, MO; her granddaughter, Morgan Mae Stoermer, of St. Louis, MO; her brother, John Hunter Morgan II, of New Haven, CT; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Cheryl and Thomas Hanley, of East Glastonbury, CT; her two nephews, Erik and Timothy Hanleyand many other members of her extended family.

The funeral service and interment will be held privately at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford, CT.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Mrs. Jorgensen’s name be made to the Audubon Society, WHYY public radio in Philadelphia, or the Morrisville Presbyterian Church.
