Marie M. Stewart, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, in Yardley, Pennsylvania. She was 98 years old.

Born on May 13, 1928, in Butler, Pennsylvania, Marie was raised in Pittsburgh, where she built a life centered on family, faith, friendship, and community. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert Stewart, whose memory she treasured deeply throughout her life.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, James Milligan and Marie Schell Bielner, and by her brother, Robert Cervas.

She leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor her memory: her daughters, Gloria (Stewart) Nelson (Chris Nelson), and Grace (Stewart) Partridge; her four grandchildren, Bradley Nelson, Emily Balles, Daniel Partridge, and Joy Partridge; and her three great-grandchildren, Lyla, Robert, and Joan. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and other family members, along with dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness and warmth.

A graduate of Allegheny High School, Marie began her career as a customer service representative for Bell Telephone in Pittsburgh, where she worked for ten years and formed many lifelong friendships.

Faith was a cornerstone of Marie’s life. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, where she found both spiritual strength and enduring community. After relocating to Newtown PA in 1997, she became an active member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, where she continued to nurture deep friendships and her lifelong devotion to her faith.

Marie had a gift for bringing people together. For forty consecutive years, she and her husband Bob hosted treasured New Year’s Eve celebrations in their home, welcoming family and friends with warmth, laughter, music, and hospitality. She loved music deeply and especially enjoyed the songs of Frank Sinatra. An accomplished pianist, Marie filled her home with music throughout her life.

She also found great joy in cooking and was an enthusiastic admirer of Julia Child. A proud lifelong Pittsburgher, Marie remained a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
