Kathryn A. Veitch, a loving mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away on June 12, 2025, in Langhorne, Pennsylvania, at the age of 88. Born on October 1, 1936, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Kathryn spent her early years surrounded by the love of her family in small apartment, where she learned the values of hard work and creativity that would shape her own life.
A dedicated career woman, Kathryn worked as a secretary for KPMG in Newtown, PA for 12 years, and was a substitute Administrative Assistant for the Pennsbury School District, a role that reflected her commitment and attention to detail. Yet, her life extended far beyond her professional achievements. She was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Morrisville. In the 1980’s into the early ‘90’s Kay coached the girls high school CYO basketball team. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing guidance and community.
Throughout her lifetime, Kathryn exhibited a vibrant spirit and an adventurous heart. She was an avid tennis player after competitively swimming through high school. As a proud member of the Brookside Swim Club in Yardley and the Silver Sneakers program, she embraced an active lifestyle well into her later years. Her involvement at the Lower Makefield Senior Center allowed her to not only engage with fellow seniors but also to express her artistic talents. An accomplished watercolor artist, many of her beautiful paintings can be found adorning the walls of the Senior Center, speaking to her creativity and passion for life.
Kathryn is survived by her beloved son, William J. Veitch III, and her daughter-in-law, Betsy Veitch. She took great pride in her role as a grandmother to Jeni Veitch and Sara Veitch, who were the lights of her life. While family was at the heart of her existence, Kathryn also cherished the bonds she shared with her extended family, which included her cousin, Janet LaForge; her niece, Janet Kochel; her niece, Barbara Augustine; and her nephews, Dr. James Eagan and Thomas Eagan.
Kathryn was predeceased by her husband, William J. Veitch II, who undoubtedly holds a special place in her heart even beyond this life. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Raymond LaForge, Sr. and Irene Koepler LaForge, and her brother, Raymond LaForge, II all of whom she held dear in her memories.
She always told kids to, “Use your head!” which was a reminder to not make stupid mistakes and that there are no shortcuts in life, only paths to success.
A visitation will be held on June 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, located at 752 Big Oak Road in Morrisville, PA. Her family invites all who knew her to join in celebrating a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and creativity.
As we remember Kathryn, let us honor her legacy by embracing life with the same passion and grace she exhibited throughout her years. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
