Joyce H. Bahelka Thompson

Joyce H. (Bahelka) Thompson, age 88, a long-standing resident of Morrisville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at Frederick Living in Zieglerville, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Born in Passaic, New Jersey, Joyce grew up in Lower Makefield, Pennsylvania, on Stony Hill Road. She attended Pennsbury High School, studied business, was crowned “Miss Pennsbury,” and graduated in 1956.

After graduation, Joyce worked as a secretary at Thiokol Chemical Company in Trenton, New Jersey. In the 1960s, she worked for the Dean of Women at West Chester State College and later served as a secretary in the Guidance Office of Morrisville High School during the 1970s.

Along with her husband, Andy, Joyce was a prominent business owner, serving as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Beco Kitchens and Baths, Inc., and later as President of Thompson Associates, both located on Bridge Street in Morrisville. She was an active member of the Morrisville Business Association and a major contributor to the “Morrisville 200” Bicentennial Committee.

Joyce had a deep faith and was a devoted parishioner of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Morrisville, where she served on the Finance Committee for many years, as well as a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Morrisville Prayer Community. She took a particular interest in the tuition assistance program at Holy Trinity School, helping many families with their children’s tuition.

Joyce and Andy moved to Frederick Living in Zieglerville, Pennsylvania, in March 2025. There, they joined the parish of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schwenksville and gained a new community of friends and fellow worshippers.

Over the years, Joyce and Andy were involved in many “house moves” due to job changes and personal interests. One move did not go quite as planned: Joyce took the children and the furniture but left Andy behind by accident. Fortunately, she rescued him the next day – and they continued to live happily ever after.

Being a devoted wife and mother, Joyce’s family was at the center of her world. She valued deep, meaningful friendships, and she and Andy were blessed with many friends who shared interests in faith, family, and fellowship. Friends knew her as a loyal, genuine, and supportive companion, a presence who could always be counted on.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Frances (Siegrist) Bahelka; her sister Maryann Tigar; and her identical twin sister Gail Pesce. She was also predeceased by her brother-in-law Phillip Tigar; sister-in-law Arlene Bisagna; brother-in-law Andrew Bisagna; and nephew Bruce Tigar.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Andy; their three children: John Thompson and his wife, Kathrin Schreckenberg; Karen Schmelzer and her husband, Steven; and Frances Brewer and her husband, James. Joyce is also survived by six grandchildren: Herb, Jesse, Matthew, Anna, Andy, and Elena; nine great-grandchildren: Ava, Seamus, Declan, Joseph, Padraig, Jack, Fiona, Ashlynn, and Emma; her brother-in-law Frank Pesce; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joyce’s memorial service on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 West Trenton Avenue, Morrisville, PA 19067. Monsignor John Eckert of Holy Trinity Catholic Church will officiate. The family will be available to receive condolences after the service.

Her interment will be held privately at Morrisville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Joyce’s name be made to the Holy Trinity Church School Tuition Fund, 201 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Morrisville, PA 19067. Please make the check payable to “Holy Trinity Tuition Fund” and write Joyce’s name in the memo line.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held in mid-September 2026, with the exact date, time, and location to be announced later. Those unable to attend the Friday service and who would like to join family and friends at the September celebration can provide their contact details to J. Allen Hooper Funeral Home, and that information will be passed on to the Thompson family.
