Joshua Putterman passed away unexpectedly at his home in Morrisville, Pennsylvania July 14, 2022 . He was 54 years old.
Josh was born in Cleveland to Boris and Arlene Putterman, and the family soon moved to Elkins Park, Pennsylvania.
After graduating from Cheltenham High School in 1986, Josh spent a year at the Rochester Institute of Technology and then studied journalism at the University of Delaware, where he worked as a writer and sports editor for The Review, the student-run newspaper, and where he met many lifelong friends.
Josh most recently worked as a page designer and editor for Gannett/USA Today Network. He also worked as a page editor for Asbury Park Design Studio, a freelance copy editor, a copy editor for the Asbury Park Press and the New Jersey Jewish News, as well as editor roles for the Hartford Courant, the Delaware State News and the News-Dispatch in Michigan City, Indiana.
Despite losing a few teeth in a Little League mishap that friends would still joke with him about four decades later, Josh had a lifelong love for sports, particularly teams from Philadelphia and the University of Delaware. He was a walking sports encyclopedia, and no piece of sports trivia was too obscure for Josh to recall.
Josh is remembered fondly for his devotion to family, quiet and quick wit, his talent as an editor and page designer, his passion for journalism, his impressive impressions, his love of music and his aforementioned love of sports. He was the friend you wanted to have, the mentor you needed to guide you, and the smiling face who could unfailingly make you laugh. He was a loving and kind husband, father and faithful friend.
Josh is survived by his beloved wife Christine (née Matteucci); daughters Sophie and Abigail; mother Arlene; brother Alex; sisters-in-law Sarah and Antoinette; niece Madeline and nephew Aaron, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Boris.
