Jeffrey A. Spera

Jeffrey A. Spera, age 67 of Washington Crossing, PA passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Chandler Hall in Newtown.  Born in Plattsburgh, NY, Jeffrey lived in Queens, NY, moved to Lawrenceville, NJ for 10 years and has lived in Washington Crossing for the past 24 years.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Spera was employed as a geologist with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for over 25 years.  He was a parishioner of St. Ignatius of Antioch Roman Catholic Church in Yardley.  An avid ultrarunner, Jeffrey competed in many races across the country and abroad. He was a member of the Broadway Ultra Running Society (B.U.S.).  An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed rock climbing, hiking, swimming, bird watching and successfully climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro with his son in 2017.  Mr. Spera was also fond of riding around on his motorcycle and working around the house. He loved cooking and made the best pizza, pulled pork, and his famous tomato sauce. He also volunteered for the Pennsbury Athletic Association as a baseball coach and director.  In his spare time, he enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams as well as Clint Eastwood and Al Pacino movies.

Son of the late Mauro T. Spera and Helen (Stetz) Dadouses, brother of the late Ruth and Michael Spera, he is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years Maria C. Franco-Spera, his loving son Andrew V. Spera of Yardley, two brothers Mark Stetz and Stuart Anthony Spera, a sister and brother-in-law Claudia and David Lanoie and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass at 11 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at St. Ignatius of Antioch Roman Catholic Church, 999 Reading Ave., Morrisville, PA  19067.

Friends may call Saturday morning from 10-11 AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Jeffrey’s name, may be made to the Esophageal Cancer Support Group of Philadelphia ( www.ecsop.org )

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
