Evelyn W. Fretz, a compassionate soul and cherished member of her community, departed this world on August 28, 2025, in Lower Makefield Township, Pennsylvania. Born on September 27, 1935, in Perkasie, Pennsylvania, Evelyn lived a life rich in service, creativity, and love, inspiring all who had the honor of knowing her.
A dedicated professional, Evelyn spent many years employed as an X-ray technician at Doylestown Hospital and also provided care as a private duty nurse. Her nurturing spirit was evident as she utilized her skills to assist others, embodying the essence of compassion in every aspect of her work.
Beyond her career, Evelyn was deeply devoted to her faith and community. A longstanding member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morrisville, she generously volunteered her time assisting in community affairs and served as the leader of the youth group. Her commitment to nurturing the next generation extended into her roles with the Quarry Hill Elementary School PTO and as a Girl Scout Leader, where she fostered growth and camaraderie among young girls in her neighborhood.
Evelyn was a proud graduate of Sel-Perk High School, Class of 1953, and carried with her the values of hard work and dedication. She was the youngest of nine children and cherished the bonds of family throughout her life.
Her interests included a vibrant array of hobbies. She found joy in arts and crafts, indulged her creativity through decoupage, and relished the pleasures of cooking and wine-making. A true entertainer at heart, she hosted memorable gatherings, with summer pool parties standing out as particularly cherished occasions. Evelyn's adventurous spirit led her to travel to captivating destinations such as Montauk, Long Island, and the enchanting landscapes of the Caribbean. She also enjoyed sports, and was an avid fan of the Phillies and Eagles. She and her late husband never missed a game.
Evelyn is warmly remembered by her loving family, including her daughter and son-in-law, Michele F. and David D. Pomes, and her grandson, Bradley S. Terrault. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will carry forward her legacy of kindness and generosity.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Dennis W. Fretz, and her devoted parents, Charles Wimmer and Minnie VonBuren Wimmer, Evelyn's absence leaves an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
Evelyn W. Fretz's life was a testament to love, dedication, and the profound impact one person can have on their community. Her spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. A visitation will be held on September 17, 2025, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morrisville, PA, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM. She will then be laid to rest at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA, at 1:30 PM.
