Edward M. Szathmary

Edward M. Szathmary, age 76 of Morrisville, PA, passed away on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018 at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne, PA.  Born in Pageton, WV, Edward grew up in Yardville, NJ and moved to Morrisville, PA 48 years ago.

He was a proud Army Veteran and graduate of Trenton Catholic High School and Rider University.  Ed was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Morrisville and a member of several car clubs.  As a “Car Guy”, he enjoyed camping and participating in local events with his cars. Some of his favorite traditions were family trips in the RV, family reunions in Ohio, and cooking Hungarian food.

Son of the late William and Margaret (Erdelyi) Szathmary, he is survived by his wife of 48 years Arta (Greenwood) Szathmary, four children Tracy (& Stephen) Aichele of Boiling Springs, PA, Scott (& Christine) Szathmary of Washington, DC, Edi (& Joshua) Thimons of Corona Del Mar, CA, and Alex (& Colleen) Szathmary of Washington Crossing, PA, two sisters Anne (& Charles) Takacs of Titusville, NJ and Rose Marie Szathmary-Rooks (& husband Charles) of Rapid City, SD, and many loving extended family members.  He is also survived by 11 grandchildren all of whom were especially loved by their Grandpa: Elizabeth, Ella, Stephen, Olivia, Eddie, Peter, Maeve, Bennett, Rose, Emerson, and Finley.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his funeral mass at 11 AM on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, followed by his interment in the parish cemetery.  Immediately following the committal, family and friends are invited to share refreshments and stories at the Washington Crossing Inn, located at 1295 General Washington Mem Blvd, Washington Crossing, PA 18977.

Visitation will take place from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave., Morrisville, PA  19067.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the school that all four of his children attended, Holy Trinity School, 99 Osborne Ave., Morrisville, PA  19067.
