Corrine Leah Kort

Corrine Leah Kort (née Closson), born on August 23, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully at her home in Yardley, PA, on July 31, 2026.

Corrine dedicated her life to acts of care, faith, and generosity. A lifelong educator at heart and by profession, her calling was found in teaching kindergarten and first grade. Corrine was once heard to say, “I can’t think of anything more important I could do with my life than to teach a child how to read.” Through this commitment, she left an indelible mark on the lives of her students, guiding their earliest steps into literacy and lifelong learning.

Her journey through life took her from her birthplace in Brooklyn, NY, to a 27-year residence in Charlotte, NC, before moving to Princeton, NJ, for six years, and finally settling in Yardley five years ago. In every community she called home, Corrine extended her warmth and kindness to all. She was known for quietly reaching out to support homeless neighbors and those in need, never seeking applause or recognition. Her accepting spirit welcomed everyone, rooted firmly in her profound belief that all people matter to God.

Family was always at the heart of Corrine’s world. She devoted herself fully to her loved ones, showering them with unconditional love and endless care so they always felt cherished. Those close to her saw a life that radiated love, kindness, and tenderness—a living portrait of her faith in Jesus Christ.

Corrine is survived by her loving husband, John Thomas Kort, her sister Janice Hall, her daughter, Sarah E. Kort, her son, Andrew T. Kort, her daughter-in-law, Mihee Kim-Kort, and her grandchildren Anna, Desmond, and Oswald. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Closson, and her mother, Maxine Hockenberry Closson, and her brother Bruce Closson.

Corrine’s enduring legacy is one of compassion and quiet strength. In honoring her memory, all who knew her are reminded to be kind to everyone they meet, reflecting the values she carried throughout her life.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Corrine will be laid to rest in her family plot near Pittsburgh.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, Morrisville, PA.
