Christine "Chris" Carol Atkinson

Christine “Chris” Atkinson of Fallsington, PA passed away peacefully after a long illness on January 7, 2026 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was surrounded by her children.

Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Chris was a graduate of St. Hubert’s High School and continued her education at Bucks County Community College. After a long career working in the government, Chris retired in 2015 as the Head of Human Resources for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia.

A lifelong Catholic, Chris was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist in Morrisville, PA for many years. She was also a devoted animal lover who prided herself in supporting causes helping animals in need as a dedicated member of the Women’s Humane Society. She especially loved her own loyal canine companions Ling-Ling and of course, her Lilly, who spent the last 12 years by Chris’s side.

An avid traveler, Chris spent many years going all over the world including memorable trips to Italy, China, Africa, and Jerusalem. During the holidays over the years, Chris enjoyed preparing meals for her extended family and prided herself in making sure everyone had a good time. Chris especially enjoyed celebrating Christmas over the years with her mother, children, and eventually her three grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her dry sense of humor, her many weekend trips to the city with her family, and her lifetime love of books. She especially enjoyed her mystery and romance novels. And many afternoons, you would often find Chris at the movie theater.

Chris is survived by her loving mother, Elaine Pisano; her son, Steven Atkinson, and his wife, Kate; her daughter, Jenine Atkinson; and her three grandchildren Toria, Haley, and Jake. Preceding her in death was her two uncles Joey and Louis, her cousin Charlie, as well as her Aunt Lee.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on January 19, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. (752 Big Oak Road, Morrisville, PA) The visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, immediately followed by Mass. Internment will be held at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Chris’s name to the Bucks County SPCA.
