Langhorne, PA

Betty Jean Johnsey, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Hopewell, New Jersey. Born on April 2, 1933, in Concord, North Carolina, she spent her formative years in the loving embrace of her parents, Lawrence and Ollie Bell Lefler Kepley. Betty was the dear sister to her siblings, Lewis, Ira, Lorraine, and Clayton, each of whom preceded her in death, leaving a legacy of love and memories that will forever remain etched in the hearts of her family.

A woman of remarkable spirit, Betty devoted over twenty years of her professional life to the Springfield Township Library, where her passion for literature blossomed. Her unwavering commitment to service was further exemplified through her voluntary efforts, providing countless hours of support and joy to those who frequented the library.

Betty’s warmth and kindness extended beyond her professional endeavors. A culinary enthusiast at heart, she derived immense pleasure from cooking, especially Southern dishes. Her family and friends will fondly remember the gatherings centered around her kitchen, where laughter and nourishment filled the air. Betty was also an ardent gardener, nurturing not only plants but relationships within the Old York Road Garden Club, which served as a forum for her love of nature and community engagement.

Ten years ago, Betty transitioned from her home in Glenside, Pennsylvania, to reside in Langhorne, where she continued to cultivate her passions and sustain her dedication to family and friends.

Betty is survived by her daughters: Valerie J. Johnsey of Chicago, Illinois; Vanessa J. and Emmet Fitzgerald III of Radnor, Pennsylvania; and Victoria "Tory" Johnsey of Yardley, Pennsylvania. Her legacy continues through a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

As the sun sets on the life of Betty Jean Johnsey, we reflect on her impact and her connection to family. Her zest for reading and her nurturing spirit will be deeply missed but always remembered.
