Bernice A. (Allen) Donini

November 28, 1918 — July 22, 2023

Yardley, PA

Bernice A. Donini, age 104, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023 after a long and fulfilling life. Born in Trenton, NJ, she was a lifelong resident of the area.

Daughter of the late J. Russell Allen and Frances C. Delp, wife of the late Don J. Donini, and sister of the late R. Edwin Allen, Bernice is survived by her three beloved daughters: Barbara Allen Brewster and her husband Albert of Lansdale, PA, Marilynn Donini and her husband Michael Karp of Brooklyn, NY, and Elizabeth Donini Jenkinson and her partner Frederick Scott of Wilmington, DE. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A graduate of Trenton Central High School, class of 1935, Bernice was active as Vice President of the class and participated in the many class reunions held for over 70 years.
A former kindergarten teacher in the Trenton Public Schools, she was a graduate of Trenton State College, now the College of New Jersey. She received a master’s degree in library and information sciences from Drexel University and served as a librarian at the Mercer Medical School of Nursing.

Throughout her life, Bernice was an active volunteer in the West Trenton Garden Club, the Lower Makefield Branch of the American Association of University Women, the Lower Makefield Women’s Club and the William Trent House. She held officer positions and served on the board in these organizations.
For over 60 years Bernice was a member of the Morrisville Presbyterian Church. One of her greatest achievements was her founding of the weekly nursery school which continues to serve young children today.

Bernice also was a member of the Lower Makefield Seniors, the Lower Makefield Chapter of TLA. As an active member of the Trenton Country Club, she enjoyed golf and playing bridge in many bridge groups.

Her interests included reading, cooking, gardening, participating in book clubs (multiple at the same time), traveling extensively, and supporting the Philadelphia Orchestra, Pennsylvania Ballet and New York City Ballet.

Bernice spent many happy years as a summer resident of Harvey Cedars, NJ on Long Beach Island.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bernice’s memorial service at 11 AM on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the Morrisville Presbyterian Church, 771 N Pennsylvania Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067.
Friends may call at 10 AM to share fond memories until service time. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
