Apr 2, 1936 — Jun 8, 2026

Fairless Hills, PA

Barbara Bowling, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026.

Barbara was born April 2, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, and grew up in the Mt. Airy section. In her young years, she enjoyed Bible study class, school activities, dancing and attending her older brother's Major League Baseball games.

A proud graduate of Germantown High School, she was very active in clubs, committees and even voted best dancer of her 1954 graduating class.

Barbara attended nursing school at Chestnut Hill Hospital, then worked as a Secretary at the Liberty Bell Race Track and Curtin and Heefner Law Firm. Her strong work ethic, reliability and dedication left an enduring imprint on colleagues and clients.

Her roots ran deep in the Bucks County communities of Bristol, Levittown, Morrisville, and New Hope.

Barbara enjoyed reading and playing pinochle with friends at New Hope Manor. A significant chapter of her life was spent in Chincoteague, VA. Her days were filled with boating, beach days, bird watching, sunset viewing, and kite flying on the beach. Barb even worked in a lab where she extracted blood from horseshoe crabs for medical purposes.

Most recently she resided at Neshaminy Manor Nursing Home and was known as “Barbie”. Barbie enjoyed sharing stories of her family and her oldest brother, Bucky Walters’ major league ball days. She was loved and respected by her caretakers and staff at Neshaminy Manor.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Adrain H. Bowling, her parents; William Walters, Mildred Sheetz Walters and her five siblings; William, Margaret, Janet, Marion and Mildred all of whom she loved and spoke of often.

Barbara is survived by her four children: sons Richard (Penny) Evans, Ronald (Linda) Evans, Gary (Hank and Betty) Evans, daughter Carolyn (Bill) Powell, her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her brother, Jack Walters, remains a living connection to her loving past, alongside numerous nieces and nephews who carry her memory forward.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside service at 1:30 PM on Friday,  August 7th, 2026 at Washington Crossing National Cemetery,  830 Highland Rd, Newtown, PA 18940.

Our family sends thanks of appreciation to the Neshaminy Manor staff for their daily care of Barbie and the end of life care of Caring Hospice.
