James J. Pitman

James J. "Mad Dog" Pitman, age 87, of Morrisville, PA, passed away peacefully at his home in Morrisville on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017. He was born in, and a lifelong resident, of Morrisville, PA. Mr. Pitman was a graduate of Morrisville High School, Class of 1947. In his younger years, Jim was a projectionist at the Bijou Theater in Trenton. He was a proud Army Veteran, serving during WWII. Following the war, he became one of the first employees at U.S. Steel, working there approximately 40 years until the plant closed. "Mad Dog" Pitman was a lifetime member of Morrisville Fire Company, serving over 50 years. An avid photographer, he also enjoyed electronics, especially short wave radio. Mr. Pitman also played the violin and the organ. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.Son of the late Ernest and Margaret (Flynn) Pitman, husband of the late Ethel (Wojtowicz) Pitman, and brother of the late Tom and Ernest Pitman, he is survived by a daughter Kathleen (David Kish) Howell of Morrisville, a son Patrick (Lynn) Pitman of Greensboro, NC, 5 grandchildren Michael (Beth) Howell, Nicole and Brittany Howell, and Erin and Adam Pitman, and 3 great grandchildren Michael, Jacob, and Zachary Howell.Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass at 11 AM on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 201 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Morrisville, PA. The Rev. Father John Eckert, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7-9 PM , and on Thursday morning from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W.
