If you choose cremation services, it's very important to be confident and sure of this decision. The provider that you choose is extremely important, as you want your loved one treated with the care and dignity that they deserve. Ask if your funeral home is a member of the Cremation With Care Providers Network, which holds funeral homes to a higher standard than most. We are Lower Bucks County's ONLY Cremation With Care member. Cremation is a form of disposition. You can choose cremation or burial for your loved one. There are several options available to you in relation to cremation.
Most families choose a more traditional funeral using cremation as disposition. This will allow for a funeral service in church or a funeral home followed by the cremation of your loved one. Family and friends are given an opportunity to say their final goodbyes and see their loved one one last time.
You also have the option to choose a memorial service where the cremains can either be present or not present at the funeral home or church. Choosing this option allows you to hold memorial services at a later date and time when it's more convenient for all family members and friends to attend. Another option available to you is Dignified Standard Cremation without holding viewing or memorial services. Dignified Standard Cremation includes a Final Farewell (a time that the family can spend with their loved one prior to the cremation), as well as an online memorial tribute and a wood urn.
Regarding the final disposition of the cremains, there are several options available to you. You can either choose burial in a cemetery or entombment in a mausoleum. Some of our families choose to place the cremains of their loved ones in a decorative urn and keep them in the warmth and privacy of their home. Others have chosen to scatter the remains in the air, on land or at sea. In all states, it is permissible to scatter cremains on private property with the consent of the property owner. Please follow up and inquire with your religious affiliation on their doctrine in regards to scattering of cremains. The J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel staff is available to assist you with any of these options and help create a memorable and meaningful celebration of life for your loved one.
